Training last night and Saturday 2/10

By Stuart, posted September 28th, 2010

Just a very big thanks to everyone who made it to training last night on the holiday weekend and to those who brought their subscriptions. Once again it was a very beneficial session and I would encourage anyone to come along if you’ve not made it already.

I’d also like to remind you that any subscription cheques should be made payable to “Glasgow Academical Sports Club

Finally, as Clydeside were unable to play a rearranged game against the 2nd XI this Saturday, 2/10; I have suggested that we play a 1s vs 2s game with a few drinks after, rather than having another weekend off. I will let you know via text in the next 48 hours whether we’re on or not - we are!

A Few Notes

By Stuart, posted September 24th, 2010

Hi all, a few bits of info for the next couple of weeks;

There are NO games on Saturday 25/9 due to the holiday weekend.

Training is ON, on Monday 27/9 at 7pm; everyone to bring their subscriptions please, see the post below for more details.

As things stand there are NO games on 2/10 due to the cup weekend, however I am going to try and rearrange the Clydeside 2 vs GA 2XI from 2 weeks ago. I will text to confirm if this is the case.

Adam has a spare brand new Grays 7000 stick for sale, still in its packaging. It should be selling for £130, he is asking £80. Please let me know if you’re interested.

As you can see, we have a profiles page but without many profiles. If you would be cool with it, I’m hoping to take a headshot (not that kind of headshot!) of everyone over the next few weeks, to give the site a more professional feel.

Cheers, Stu

There are a few ways to pay; by cash, by cheque made payable to the Glasgow Academical Sports Club or via Direct Debit using this form – GA Direct Debit Mandate, if you hand your method of payment to me, I will pass all of these on to club Membership Secretary, Neil McLean.

Cheers,

Colin Atkinson

By Stuart, posted September 14th, 2010

“It is with both shock and sadness that we record the sudden death of Colin Atkinson whilst playing golf yesterday. Colin has served the Academical Club in so many ways over so many years. A past president of the Club and the current chairman of the Sports Club, his enthusiasm for all things at New Anniesland remained undiminished over this long period. Apart from his love of cricket and rugby, he had been a more than useful athlete in his University days and also served the Scottish Badminton Union attaining the position of president. This love of sport in general led him to serve on the Glasgow Sports Council. Our thoughts on this sad day are with Moira and the family. Funeral details and a full appreciation will appear later”
